Shu & Me Too

What a great time we had at Shu & Me’s launch party, held last night at Bar 5 in Derby. Daughters of Davis, cocktails, cupcakes and gorgeous vintage jewellery, who could ask for more?

With so many new pieces being created since the first ‘shu’t, we just had to do a second… the style was feminine, vintage chic and here are the results.  I couldn’t resist the urge to don a couple of pieces myself from the Vintage Alphabet range. Such gorgeous work Lucy, you deserve all the success in the world. Well done for last night xxx

Shu & Me

There has been a real buzz about town recently. Shu & Me vintage inspired jewellery has arrived and the ladies are loving it. Gorgeous refashioned and recycled pieces cleverly created from old, broken or unwanted items. Little charms, quirky pendants, antique gold and silver tones, elegant brooches…every new piece is a surprise and an absolute pleasure to wear.

I’m lucky enough to know the lady behind the magic, lovely Lucy, and together we hatched a little plan for Shu & Me’s first photo’shu’t (do you like what we did there?). We had it all planned…the location had it all….gorgeous swing – check, lake with reeds and ducks – check, pretty little wooden cabin – check, two beautiful models – check. What happened?  The minute the girls were ready we stepped outside and Mother Nature gave it some welly (I’m convinced MN is Californian). So a change of plan was necessary and luckily our hosts graciously allowed us to use their beautiful home – phew!

We wanted the shoot to show how the vintage inspired designs can work with a modern day outfit. Clothing featured is SS12 by ba&sh, American Vintage, 7 For All Mankind, Vanessa Bruno Athe, By Malene Birger and is available to buy at Canopy Womenswear. Anyway here are the results.

I’m really happy with how the shoot turned out and kind of glad actually that the weather was so bad. Massive thanks to Lucy (Shu & Me), Kate (make-up), Dayna (hair), Emily & Phoebe (models) and Canopy Womenswear.   Special thank you to Mr and Mrs Eley for providing us with the most awesome lunch without any prior notice!). X

Shu & Me Vintage Inspired / Trend Inspired Jewellery – available to buy on Etsy and at Canopy. More information available on Shu & Me’s Facebook page (likes always appreciated) x

A Charity Vintage Tea Party

What a fab time we had on Saturday at a Charity Vintage Tea Party organised by my friends Stacey Meyer and Anna Haynes. The event was held to raise money for their Rams Kenyan Adventure where they will be going in May to support the project to build 2 new classrooms at St Trizah School in Nakuru. It is a terrible fact that 1 in 5 children in Kenya don’t make it to their fifth birthday and 20% of school age children are orphans due to HIV. 40% of the children in Kenya don’t have access to a school, and children who are not in education are three times more likely to contract HIV in adult life. The event raised an amazing £960 and this money will go towards resources and manpower to build these two new classrooms, which in real terms means that an additional 100 children can access education. Well done to everyone involved; Darby & Joan for the styling and vintage glamour, Shu & Me, A Little Something and Ms Honey for selling their gorgeous wares, Food Fairies for the delicious yumminess on the tables, and lots of other special individuals who gave their time to help organise and set-up the event.  I for one had a great time, thank you. I took my camera to the event to snap a few pics….

Welcome to my new blog

Finally here it is! A new home for emmacleveleyblog.co.uk. This blog is dedicated to everything but weddings (ok maybe just a teensy bit of my wedding work will be posted too). It’s not quite finished yet but I just couldn’t wait to get posting. I’ll be developing the features of this blog over the coming weeks so please visit me again soon.

What better way to kick off my new blog than with a gorgeous baby bump shoot. This little bundle of joy will be arriving soon. His/her (hence the yellow) mummy has given them a lovely home for almost 9 months and is just itching to meet the little angel. Looking forward to meeting you little one ….
